About VIP

Our Mission

“Restoring Hurt Lives and Building Stronger Communities”

Our Services

Violence Intervention Project provides emergency services and support for victims of violence, and their families. We are located in Thief River Falls, MN and have a satellite office in Roseau, MN. We collaborate with other service professionals to support individuals and create safe, healthy communities.

Options for Survivors

Violence Intervention Project offers free confidential services including information and resources to individuals and families who have been harmed by sexual and/or domestic violence.

Options for Supporters

We create opportunities for volunteers to provide transportation and child care services; donors to provide material donations for individuals and families in need; and supporters to get involved in various ways to help support our mission and improve the lives of the people who live in the communities we serve.

Community Impact

VIP serves victims of domestic or sexual assault through crisis call response, advocacy support, shelter and other housing support. We also offer exchanges and visits, for parents and caregivers with children, through VIP’s Supervised Visitation and Safe Exchange Center (Umbrella Tree).

Hope

Violence Intervention Project empowers survivors to live a violence free life. We inspire social change through advocacy, education and awareness to promote safe, healthy communities. Your support makes this all possible.

History

Violence Intervention Project (VIP) was originally conceived by two groups of concerned local citizens, the Martha Ripley Alliance, and Project Safe.  The Martha Ripley Alliance was established in 1978 to provide alternatives to women who were living in an environment of domestic violence.  Project Safe began in 1979 and its primary focus was to serve victims of sexual violence.  The two groups joined in May 1990, and today VIP is a private, community-based non-profit agency serving northwest Minnesota, including the counties of Kittson, Marshall, Pennington, Red Lake, and Roseau.
